Helping out my followers that have written books

If you are an author of a book go ahead and provide me the link in the comment section, and I will head over and check it out. If it seems cool I will go ahead and make a purchase.

Once I’ve read, your in your own mind masterpiece, I will go ahead and make a quick book review. Listen, I am no literary genius, but I do know the make up of a good novel. And hell everyone knows good writing when they read it, right? In doing my part in spreading the love and sharing, if I thoroughly enjoyed it, I will pass the name on to my family and friends (My mother reads a lot of shit). If they liked it, they will also spread the word. It is advertising 101: Word of mouth.

Some rules and some things to know.

As an author I am sure that you have developed a thick skin. If you have not then you are a novice and have not been rejected enough to have the ability to write with heart and passion. So don’t send me your shit if you are going to bawl your eyes out if I say it sucked. Here is why it sucked. And thanks for wasting my fucking time.

I don’t read romance novels. I don’t care how bored I am, I won’t read it. I will watch Cricket instead. Have you ever watched Cricket? It is one boring fucking sport.

I make an okay salary, but I am not wealthy, so If your book is over $10 I am not buying it. That is a good glass of wine. I love wine.

If you are not on Amazon Kindle, get back at me when you are. I don’t like to walk around with stuff in my hands. I read from my phone during the day, and from my ipad at nights.

If it is erotic and will give me a hard on send it.

If it is suspense send it.

Serial killer maiming send it.

Cop mystery send it.

Military bombs over Baghdad shit send it.

Interestingly enough, and I don’t know why, but if it has a travel theme to it send it.

I am not good at reading and analyzing poetry so I can’t tell you if it is good or not, I may say it is good and the rest of the world might think it’s shit. I do like heavy imagery with poetry that I read, though. So if you have that send it.

My favorite will be a mix of fiction and history. Think Don DeLillo  “Libra.”

Be kind and spread the word to your followers. Reblog if you must. Let’s help out our artist community.

The more I read the better I will write. Even if I have read something terrible, I will know not to do it like that.

Okay, go on now.

    1. Appropouture,

Thank you very much for sharing but I am going to have to pass on this one, and here is why. First, the style of writing is not my sort of writing style. It reads like poetry, which is fine, but it is hard to follow. The main issue I have with it is that I am being told almost everything. The old saying is show don’t tell.

      Here are some examples.

The very first sentence: As we all know the first sentence tells it all. Personally I think the first sentence should read, “The universe knocks at the door” not “The universe begins with a knock at the door.” The former is action. The latter is telling.

There are many others, “He dreads opening the package.” Show me dread.

“Handful of shaking knuckles pulls the tape. Regret screeches past the point of no return. This sounds like poetry.

Like I said most of it is written in telling form.

Another big problem is that it is not easy on the eyes. Not a lot of white paper. More short dialogue can fix that.

Overall thank you for sharing. Someone else may come across it and like the style.

      Keep at it.

    2. Appropouture, your book looks interesting. I read the first few paragraphs and I was intrigued by your writing style. It is poetic, as plotless1 said, and I kind of like that – each to their own and all the jazz 😉 It’s a shame though that there is no blurb on the site to give me a hint of what is to come, and the price put me off a little if I’m honest.

      1. Thanks for checking my book out. I appreciate your feedback. I personally am not a fan of blurbs, but I agree with you regarding the price. I’ve lowered it to seven dollars. Do you think that’s more reasonable?
